Femme Fatale is a song by the American rock band The Velvet Underground with the German singer Nico . The song first appeared on the B-side of the single Sunday Morning in 1966 .

The song was written by front man Lou Reed at the request of the band's manager Andy Warhol . The song is dedicated to Edie Sedgwick , who was one of Warhol's designated superstars at the time. Femme Fatale ( French for " fatal woman ") also appeared in 1967 on the debut album The Velvet Underground & Nico . It was sung by Nico , who later, after leaving The Velvet Underground, kept the song in the program during her live performances.
