This discography is an overview of the musical works of the American experimental rock band The Velvet Underground . According to sources and record awards, it has sold more than 640,000 records to date. The band's most successful release is the debut album The Velvet Underground & Nico with over 300,000 units sold. The album, recorded with the German singer Nico , reached the charts in Germany, Great Britain and the United States and was awarded a platinum record in the United Kingdom .
