Ferdinand Axmann
Ferdinand Axmann (born November 3, 1838 in Vienna ; † March 15, 1910 ibid) was an Austrian history painter .
Life
Ferdinand was the son of the copper engraver Josef Axmann , from whom he also received his first artistic lessons. He attended - supported by his father - the painting school of the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna; but was soon able to switch to the master class of Leopold Kupelwieser and Carl Rahl .
In 1866 Axmann was appointed professor for painting at the upper secondary school in Salzburg and ten years later he accepted an appointment in a capacity of his own at the upper secondary school back in Vienna. There in the third district , Axmann was soon entrusted with the management of the pension company for visual artists .
In 1897 Axmann resigned from almost all offices and retired into private life. Ferdinand Axmann died in 1910 at the age of 72.
