Ferdinand Fellner (born March 15, 1815 in Vienna ; † September 25, 1871 there ) was an Austrian builder and architect .
Life
Ferdinand Fellner came from an old Viennese family. He studied from 1834 to 1837 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna . Then he went on a study trip to Italy. Fellner became one of the leading architects of historicism and the Ringstrasse era . His son Ferdinand Fellner the Younger supported him in the studio from 1866 onwards, as he was no longer able to perform well because of a serious heart disease, and he finally followed him. Ferdinand Fellner was also active politically. As a representative of the Liberals from 1861 to 1862, he was a member of the municipal council , where he belonged to the 2nd constituency of Alsergrund and was the deputy chairman of the building section. 1868-1870 he belonged to the faction of the left in the local council. He worked on the city regulation plan and dealt with a new building code. After his death he was buried in the Währinger Allgemeine Friedhof , but then reburied in his son's crypt in the Grinzing cemetery (entrance crypt row 21, crypt 46).
