Ferdinand Klostermann

Ferdinand Klostermann (born March 21, 1907 in Steindorf near Straßwalchen , † December 22, 1982 in Vienna ) was an Austrian Roman Catholic theologian . He worked as a pastoral theologian and council theologian .

Life

Ferdinand Klostermann studied theology in Linz and was ordained presbyter on June 29, 1929 . From 1930 to 1938 he was chaplain in Grein on the Danube and in Bad Ischl . In 1936 he received his doctorate from the University of Graz . He was the episcopal secretary and diocesan pastor for high school students. In 1942 he suffered a Gestapo imprisonment in the police prison in Linz and was exiled north of the Main Line and took up pastoral work in Berlin St. Agnes until 1945 . After 1945 he became an employee of the Linz pastoral care office and pastor for the youth, students and academics of the Diocese of Linz . In 1960 he was appointed a member of the papal commission for lay apostolate in preparation for Vatican II and at the same time professor of pastoral theology at the University of Vienna . In 1966 he became a consultor of the papal post-conciliar commission for lay apostolate. Klostermann was an employee of the International Journal for Theology Concilium and co-editor of the International Journal for the Practice of the Church Diakonia .
