Ferdinand Osten (painter)
Ferdinand Osten (born December 1, 1878 in Hanover ; † May 7, 1940 there ) was a German painter , illustrator and mosaic artist of the Düsseldorf School .
Life
East attended the Düsseldorf School of Applied Arts and the Düsseldorf Art Academy . At the academy he was a student of Peter Janssen the Elder , Eduard von Gebhardt and Claus Meyer . He also attended the Grand Ducal Saxon Art School in Weimar . As a resident artist, he lived and worked in Hanover. There he also worked as an illustrator, for example on writings for cinnabar festivals by Kurt Schwitters . At the Kestnerstraße elementary school in the southern part of Hanover there is a wall mosaic created from the east and unveiled in 1930 depicting a Roland . It commemorates the 3,529 fallen soldiers of Reserve Infantry Regiment No. 73 of the 19th Reserve Division of the German Army .
