Ferdinand Seidl (politician)

Ferdinand Seidl (born January 12, 1875 in Koschlan , Bohemia ; † July 6, 1915 near Lublin , Russian Empire ) was a German-Bohemian journalist and politician. As a journalist, he also used the pseudonym Kurt Rudolf .

Ferdinand Seidl graduated from the commercial academy in Vienna and then worked for a few years as a private civil servant . In 1899 he turned to journalism and headed the Deutsche Nordmährerblatt in Olomouc for four years . From 1905 he lived in Troppau . There he spent three years as chief editor of the German national - anti-Semitic journal "German Army". From 1906 he was the owner and editor of “Die neue Zeit”, the party organ of the German Workers' Party (DAP) , to which he also belonged. Due to his journalistic activities, he was convicted several times for various press offenses.

Politically, Seidl appeared as an agitator and speaker for the DAP. In 1909 he became a councilor in Troppau. In 1911 he was elected to the Reichsrat in the district of Jauernig-Weidenau-Freiwildau . As a member of the Reichsrat, he joined the German National Association . In the Reichsrat he was elected to the delegation twice . He was chairman of the Silesian state party organization of the DAP, chairman of the "German Political Association for Silesia" and the "Association of German Workers in Opava".

At the beginning of the First World War he volunteered, attended the reserve officers school in Opava and went into the field as a lieutenant in the Landsturm . In July 1915 he was killed in the fighting for Kraśnik . He was buried in the Wilkołaz local cemetery.

Ferdinand Seidl left a widow and two children. His sons were the composer Kurt Seidl and the author Walter Seidl .
