Ferdinand Friedrich Wilhelm Weiß , also Friedrich Weiss (born August 10, 1814 in Magdeburg , † January 23, 1878 in Berlin ), was a German portrait , miniature and genre painter , draftsman , engraver and illustrator of the Düsseldorf School .

Ferdinand Weiß, older brother of the painter and costume expert Hermann Weiß , studied painting first at the Berlin Academy and from 1832 to 1837 in Düsseldorf . At the Düsseldorf Art Academy he was a student of Theodor Hildebrandt and Wilhelm Schadow . White settled in Berlin. Since 1836 - still a student in Düsseldorf - he participated regularly in Berlin art exhibitions. In Berlin he became a member and chairman of the Association of Berlin Artists and, under the name of " Graff ", a member (since March 27, 1859 honorary member) of the Berlin Society Tunnel over the Spree . Weiss helped his brother Hermann with his publications on costume studies by providing illustrations.
