Fernando Horácio Ávalos (born March 31, 1978 in Paso de Los Libres , Corrientes Province , Argentina ) is a former Argentine football player . The central defender became known through his affiliation with FC Basel and MSV Duisburg .
career
Fernando Ávalos began his career with Boca Juniors . From 1998 further stations in Buenos Aires followed with the first division clubs CA Nueva Chicago and CA Huracán , with the latter being relegated from the Primera División in 1999, as well as the second-rate club Deportivo Español .
In 1999 and 2000, Ávalos was active in Brazil with Real Salvador and Corinthians São Paulo . In 2000 he moved to Europe and joined the Swiss first division club FC Basel , where he was under contract the following season. This was followed by several seasons in Portugal with Boavista Porto and Nacional Funchal .
Since January 2008, Ávalos played for the German club MSV Duisburg . He rose with the club in the summer of 2008 from the Bundesliga to the 2nd Bundesliga . In January 2009 the MSV Duisburg dissolved the contract, whereupon Âvalos moved to Belenenses Lisbon . After a year playing at the Cypriot club Nea Salamis Famagusta , the Argentinean moved to the Portuguese island of Madeira in 2010 , where he first played for AD Camacha and was under contract with União Madeira in the Liga de Honra from 2011 to 2013 . At the beginning of 2014 he moved to Bravos do Maquis in Angola, where he ended his career at the end of 2016.
