Fernando Miguel Fernández Escribano (born June 2, 1979 in Málaga ), Fernando for short , is a former Spanish football player and current coach. Fernando has held his current coaching position at Diósgyöri VTK in Nemzeti Bajnokság I since April 23, 2018, where he also ended his playing career in 2013.

Player career

Born in Andalusia, Fernando played in the 1999/2000 season for Real Madrid's 2nd team , which was his first professional station. He then moved to Real Valladolid for two years . In the summer of 2002 he went back to his Andalusian homeland to hunt for goals for Betis Sevilla . There he played well over 100 league games. His greatest achievement was winning the Copa del Rey in 2005.

After losing his regular place, he left Betis after six years to join the first division promoted FC Málaga from his hometown.

In August 2011, his contract was terminated.

In spring 2012 Fernando signed a contract with the Hungarian first division club Diósgyöri VTK and ended his active career after the 2012/2013 season .

Coaching career

Fernando took over the position of head coach at the Hungarian first division club Diósgyöri VTK from Tamás Bodog for the last six games of the 2017/2018 season on April 23, 2018.
