The Schlemmin television tower is a 94 meter high transmission tower owned by Deutsche Telekom AG southwest of Schlemmin , a district of the Bernitt community in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .
description
The tower is located on a southern foothill of the Hohe Burg mountain , south of the nature reserve "Hohe Burg und Schwarzer See" , about 118 meters above sea level in a wooded area. The completion of the initially 60.5 meter high structure was based on a design by Ahrend in 1965/67 as part of the establishment of a radio relay network in the GDR. TV signals were also broadcast. The monolithic reinforced concrete shaft was manufactured using sliding formwork . Today the tower is used for mobile communications .
What is unusual about this tower, which stands in the open corridor far away from larger cities, is that it is equipped with a viewing platform for the public. However, this was after turning closed, then a short time without possibility of using the passenger elevator opened again, and finally no longer accessible to the public since 1,992th A forest restaurant called Hohe Burg at the foot of the tower with 250 seats, opened in 1969, no longer exists today. In the course of modernization work on the building, the elevator and the transmission technology, an extension mast for additional antennas was installed on the roof in 1992, which increased the total height of the tower by over 30 meters.
