Fidelis Boehler
Fidelis Böhler (* 1887 in Friedingen (Langenenslingen) , † August 11, 1954 in Fellbach ) was a German vehicle designer . He was a co-founder of the Bufag vehicle works in Hanover and played a key role in the development of the Hanomag “Kommissbrot” small car . In the 1940s in Riedlingen, he constructed the one-man Böhler Monoplace vehicle in his own company .
Life
Böhler completed an apprenticeship as a mechanic at Luftschiffbau Zeppelin in Friedrichshafen and later worked at NSU in Neckarsulm .
At the age of 36 years Böhler 1923, in Hannover with the students Hellmuth Butenuth and the designer Karl Pollich the Butenuth vehicle Werke AG (Bufag) . Together they developed a small car that a representative of Hanomag became aware of that same year at the Berlin Motor Show . As a result, Bufag and its construction plans for another small car were bought by Hanomag; Böhler and his two colleagues were permanently employed at Hanomag. The second small car they designed was built in 1925 as the Hanomag 2/10 HP and popularly known as the "Kommissbrot" .
Later, Böhler ran its own workshop in Riedlingen , where it manufactured the Böhler Monoplace in small numbers in the post-war years . The small car with only one seat, for which he had developed a prototype as early as 1932, was available for 400 Reichsmarks .
Böhler died in Fellbach in 1954 and was buried in Riedlingen.
Honors
The Fidelis-Böhler-Strasse in Riedlingen is named after him.
