Friedingen is a suburb of Langenenslingen in the Biberach district in Baden-Württemberg . Friedingen was an independent municipality until 1975.
geography
The village is located at 657 m above sea level. NHN in a wide dry valley of Flächenalb and is widely surrounded by about 70 square kilometers of protected landscape "Riedlinger Alb", from which only the local documents are excluded. Friedingen is located about four kilometers north of the main municipality of Langenenslingen and about ten kilometers northwest of Riedlingen .
history
In 904 Friedingen belonged to the Reichenau monastery . 1278 it was mentioned in a document, when the Countess Sophia of Veringen the Kloster Heiligkreuztal a Good to Friedingen gave. In 1286 Count Heinrich von Veringen sold all his properties in Friedingen with all rights also to the Heiligkreuztal monastery, which was dissolved in 1803 and fell to Württemberg . Friedingen belonged to the Württemberg Oberamt Riedlingen until 1938 , then to the Saulgau district and since 1973 to the Biberach district. On January 1, 1975 it was incorporated into Langenenslingen.

The state road L275 leads from Friedingen to the west via Ittenhausen to Gammertingen and in the east via Pflimmern to Riedlingen . In the south, the K7548 district road leads to Langenenslingen.
Churches
Catholic Church
The Catholic residents of Friedingen were parish in Langenenslingen until 1670. Friedingen was raised to a parish by the Heiligkreuztal monastery in 1670. The Catholic Church in Friedingen was built in 1750 and consecrated to St. Blaise . The interior was designed by Johann Georg Mesmer , a well-known Upper Swabian church painter .
Protestant church
There is no Protestant church in the village. The evangelical inhabitants of the parish belong to the parish of Pflimmern .
Sons and daughters of the church
- The car designer Fidelis Böhler (1887–1954) was born in Friedingen.
- Joschka Fischer's ancestors on his father's side most likely come from Friedingen.
