history

Around 1700, the parish chronicle reports on the progressive decline of a church, which at that time was dedicated to St. Nicholas was consecrated. The Weyerhof is assumed to be the location, further data are not known. A small branch church has been located in today's center of the village since 1927. This former church was a blacksmith's barn converted into a house of worship, a kind of former barn.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the current sacred building took place on April 8, 1974 by Abbot Othmar Rauscher and Mayor Josef Tretter. The Consecration of the bells and war memorial consecration took place on 27 October 1974. The transfer of the Madonna from the old building and the first Mass was celebrated on 24 December 1974. As of August 15, 1975 ( Assumption ) took diocesan bishop Franz Salesius Zauner the consecration of the new church.

Demolition work began in 1975 on the secular predecessor church in the immediate vicinity , and the Raiffeisenbank Inzersdorf has stood there since the late 1970s. In August 2015, the 40th anniversary of the church consecration was celebrated. The old abbot of Schlierbach Abbey celebrated the anniversary service .

Marienkirche Inzersdorf in the Kremstal

The church is located at Kirchenplatz No. 3 in the center of the municipality of Inzersdorf. The cemetery is immediately adjacent. The Marienkirche is kept rather simple in the style of the 1970s. The steeple contains three bells. The war memorial with the memorial plaques of the fallen is attached to the church's outer wall. Inside the church, the popular altar is flanked by a small organ on one side and the famous Inzersdorfer Madonna on the other.

The Gothic Madonna from the 13th century and a wooden figure of St. Sebastian , dated to the 3rd quarter of the 17th century, were taken over from the old church building.

The listed branch church Inzersdorf is a chaplaincy part of the parish of Kirchdorf an der Krems, which in turn has been incorporated into the Schlierbach monastery as a pastoral care worker since the reforms of Emperor Joseph II in the 1780s .

Inzersdorfer Madonna

The Inzersdorfer statue of the Madonna is dated around 1430. The original location is not known, there is evidence that it has only been in the village since 1917. Initially, a small farmer's band served as a shelter. However, its artistic value was only recognized from 1927, when it found a place in the previous church to today's Marienkirche and thus aroused general interest.

Nowadays the statue is believed to be the work of the Master of Seeon . The name of the master is not known. Further works in Upper Austria that are ascribed to him include a Madonna enthroned in the Mühlviertel at Schloss Riedegg - this "sister" is now in Switzerland ( Lenzburg Castle ) - and a statue of St. Nicholas in the parish church of Bad Ischl .

The Gothic Inzersdorfer Madonna was changed in the 18th century in the Baroque style. Restorations are documented for 1938 and 1955. The wooden statue shows Our Lady with the baby Jesus in her arms.
