The branch church of St. Nikolaus in the village of Winkl , which belongs to the municipality of Kirchberg am Wagram in Lower Austria, is a Roman Catholic church that was probably built in the first half of the 14th century. The early Gothic building is surrounded by a cemetery and a western tower was added in the second half of the 19th century .

Exterior construction

An equally high and only slightly narrower, just closed choir adjoins the nave . The sacristy on the north side and the north aisle have pent roofs . The incised corner blocks of the facade come from the 16th / 17th centuries. Century. The cross-rib vaulted nave with organ loft has a one- bay, oblong main nave and a slightly narrower, two-bay aisle, which is connected to the main nave by ogival wall openings, and a Gothic session niche with cloverleaf arch from the first half of the 14th century. The choir has two bays and an ogival triumphal arch . The sacristy and the first floor of the tower are covered with barrel vaults .

Facility

The early Baroque high altar from the third quarter of the 17th century - with columns construction blasted gable and sacrifice portals with painted fields - has a with Klimesch 1801 designated altarpiece hl. Nicholas , a top picture mercy seat , figures of Saints Joseph, Katharina, Antonius and Barbara as well as a tabernacle crowned by putti .
