Filip Oreščanin (born February 3, 1992 in Zagreb ) is a Croatian ice hockey player who has been playing for the second team of KHL Medveščak Zagreb in the Slovenian ice hockey league since 2016 .

Career

Filip Oreščanin began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of the HKm Zvolen . For the club from central Slovakia, he played in the country's U18 and U20 leagues. In 2011 he returned to his native Zagreb and played for two years at KHL Medveščak Zagreb , for which he was on the ice in both the Austrian and Croatian ice hockey leagues. In 2012 and 2013 he became Croatian champion with Medveščak . In addition, he was active in the 2011/12 season for the KHL Mladost Zagreb in the Slohokej League . From 2013 to 2015 he played in the Belgian first division for the White Caps Turnhout , with whom he became Belgian runner-up in 2014 after a final defeat against the Bulldogs de Liège , after initially winning the main round. Since 2016 he has been back in KHL Medveščak Zagreb and plays for its second team in the Slovenian ice hockey league .

International

In the junior division, Oreščanin played for Croatia at the U18 World Championships in 2009 and 2010 in Division II and at the U20 World Championships in 2011 and 2012 in Division I.

With the Croatian men's selection , Oreščanin took part in the World Championship of Division II in 2012 . He also represented his colors in qualifying for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi .
