Filippo Giustini

Filippo Cardinal Giustini (born May 8, 1852 in Cineto Romano , Province of Rome Italy , † March 18, 1920 in Rome ) was a Curia Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Filippo Giustini received his theological and philosophical training in the seminary in Tivoli and in Rome . He received on 23 December 1876, the sacrament of Holy Orders , and then worked as a lecturer in Tivoli and Rome. In 1886 Pope Leo XIII appointed him . to His Holiness's secret chamberlain , 1891 to canon of the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere . From 1892 Filippo Giustini worked as an advisor to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith , in 1897 he became auditor of the Rota Romana , in 1902 secretary of the Congregation for the Bishops . Filippo Giustini was a member of the Pontifical Commission for the Codification of Canon Law from 1904 and became secretary of the Congregation for the Sacraments in 1908 .

Pope Pius X accepted Filippo Giustini on May 25, 1914 as a cardinal deacon with the title deaconry Sant'Angelo in Pescheria in the college of cardinals . Pope Benedict XV transferred Filipo Cardinal Giustini on October 14, 1914 the office of prefect of the Congregation for the Sacraments.

Filipo Cardinal Giustini died on March 18, 1920 in Rome and was buried in the " Campo Verano " cemetery there.
