Filippo Preziosi

Filippo Preziosi (born April 14, 1968 in Perugia ) is an Italian engineer and currently General Manager of Ducati Corse , the racing department of the Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati .

Career

Filippo Preziosi grew up in Perugia in Umbria . After completing his mechanical engineering degree at the University of Bologna , he was hired by the motorcycle manufacturer Ducati in the Borgo Panigale district of Bologna in 1994 .

His first job at Ducati was as group leader in the team responsible for the road versions of the 916 used in the Superbike World Championship . He then took part in the development of the engine and machine for the racing versions of the 996 and 998.

In the period from 1996 to 1999, Preziosi, as head of the technical department, devoted himself to designing road machines as well as designing racing motorcycles. In particular, he was responsible for developing the Testastretta engine for the street and racing version of the 998.

In 1999 Filippo Preziosi became Technical Director of Ducati Corse , Ducati's racing division. In this position he was responsible for the design and development of the racing version of the 999 for the Superbike World Championship and the 990- cc - Desmosedici for the MotoGP class of the Motorcycle World Championship , in which the Italian manufacturer for the 2003 season , in charge got in.

Filippo Preziosi has been General Director of Ducati Corse since 2003 and has played a leading role in the development of the Desmosedici MotoGP machine. He was also responsible for the street version of the Desmosedici, the Desmosedici RR .

Preziosi has been paralyzed since a motorcycle accident in Africa in 2000 .
