The Desmosedici RR is a super sports / superbike motorcycle from the Italian manufacturer Ducati .

It is a street legal replica of the MotoGP factory machine Desmosedici GP .

The chassis is derived from that of the 2006 MotoGP machine and consists of a hybrid tubular space frame, a pressurized Öhlins upside-down fork of the type FG353 PFF with titanium nitride-coated 43 mm sliding tubes, a two-arm swing arm with Öhlins mono spring strut. The telescopic fork and shock absorber are fully adjustable, and the compression level of the shock absorber is even separated into high and low speed ranges. The forged wheels made of a light magnesium alloy come from the Italian manufacturer Marchesini ( Brembo Group). The Battlax BT-01 tires specially developed for the Desmosedici RR come from Bridgestone . As is standard with racing motorcycles, the machine does not have a separate rear frame, but a self-supporting monocoque made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic .

Motor / power transmission

The engine is a 90 ° four-cylinder V-engine with 989 cm³ displacement, 2 overhead camshafts driven by gear wheels per cylinder bank, 4 desmodromic titanium valves and electronic intake manifold injection . The asymmetrical, twin pulse , firing order was also adopted from the Desmosedici GP . Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via an anti-hopping dry clutch and a 6-speed cassette gearbox.

The Desmosedici RR achieves its full output of over 147 kW (200 PS) only with a non-street-legal racing exhaust system with up to 102 dB (A) and a control unit adapted to it .

Others

Ducati produced the Desmosedici RR in a limited edition of 1,500 copies. Delivery to buyers began in July 2007. The price was around € 55,000. Two color variants were available, the classic Ducati red (“Rosso GP”) and the MotoGP paintwork in “Rosso GP” with white stripes on the side panels.

Actor Tom Cruise was the first Ducati Desmosedici RR to buy in the US .
