Ducati 750SS

Ducati 750SS Nuda from 1994

The 750 SS was a model from the Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati . The motorcycle was introduced in 1991 as the successor to the 750 Sport , which had only been built for two years . With the new Supersport series, the success of the first SS series, which emerged from the Ducati 750 GT , should be linked, at least by name . The engine of the new 750 SS came with some improvements from the first timing belt driven engine from Ducati, the Pantah . In the crisis-ridden early 1990s, the SS developed into a best seller, which was characterized by being the first Ducati series to be equipped with Mikuni carburetors and Denso ignition. Over the years, the equipment details of the 750 SS came closer and closer to the 900SS , as the motorcycle was supplemented by a second front brake disc with a diameter of 320 mm, an oil cooler and a carburetor heater. Individual model years can be identified using these details, as well as the frame and the engine color (frame up to 1992 white, then gray metallic, engine up to approx. 1994 black, then silver).

Like all SS models of those years, it was offered as a Nuda (initially called Semi-Carenata, half-clad) or as Carenata (fully clad) in red and yellow.
