Ducati Cucciolo from 1950

The Cucciolo , which got its name (little dog, puppy) because of the barking sound of the engine, was Ducati's first " motorcycle " and established the company as a motorcycle manufacturer.

history

In order to meet the need for mass motorization in Italy after the end of the Second World War , Ducati began to license a 48 cm³ large, simple (and therefore cheap) four-stroke engine in 1946. This frugal engine was sold both as an auxiliary engine and in several versions of the moped of the same name , which was built until 1956.

A total of about one million pieces were sold.
