Ducati scrambler

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ducati Scrambler refers to two different motorcycle model series from the Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati .

From 1962 to 1978 Ducati offered a number of different Scrambler models. The machines were equipped with single-cylinder four-stroke engines, a vertical shaft and later with desmodromic valve control.

In 2014, four new scrambler models with two-cylinder engines were presented at the Intermot in Cologne.

Ducati's scrambler models were initially intended for the American market and were only later offered in Europe. Initially, the 250 and 350 models were built, and the 450 model was marketed from 1969. The desmodromic, which was successful in racing, was used from 1968.

Ducati Scrambler "Classic" at the Intermot 2014

The models of the Scrambler series are characterized by a classic retro look. They are driven by an air-cooled two-cylinder V-engine (Ducati designation due to the installation position: L-engine) with 803 cm³ displacement, toothed belt-driven desmodromic valve control (two valves) and an output of 55 kW (75 PS). The models with spoked wheels are equipped with tubular tires.

Icon

The simplest and cheapest model version has 10-spoke cast wheels, a black, smooth seat and is available in two colors, "62 Yellow" and "Ducati Red".

Classic

For this version, Ducati borrowed the scrambler style of the 1970s. The front and rear fenders are made of aluminum, the seat is brown. The motorcycle has aluminum spoked wheels and is available in the color "Orange Sunshine".

Urban Enduro

The Urban Enduro version has a brown seat and protectors on the fork, engine and headlights as well as wire wheels. The handlebar has an additional strut, the mudguards are made of plastic. The motorcycle is offered in the color "Wild Green".

Full throttle

The Full Throttle version relates its appearance to flat-track racing machines. It has a Termignoni exhaust system, a sporty seat and black tank side covers. The lower handlebars and the short front fender are intended to underline the sporty character. The model is offered in the color "Deep Black".

Italia Independent

With the full throttle version as the basis, a limited edition of the Ducati Scrambler - the Ducati Scrambler Italia Independent - was released in 2016 in cooperation with the glasses manufacturer Italia Independent. The version is limited to 1077 pieces worldwide.
