Fischern (formerly Bayerisch Fischern ) is a district of the municipality of Markt Schirnding and is located in the northeastern part of Bavaria directly on the border with the Czech Republic.

geography

The place is located on the northern edge of the cabbage forest in the Fichtel Mountains near the border with the Czech Republic . To the north is the Rybáře desert (formerly Bohemian fishermen ). Fischern can be reached via Europastraße 48 ( Bundesstraße 303 ) and the Schirnding train station, which is on the Nuremberg – Cheb railway line .

history

The first written mention of the village of Fischern took place in 1300. In the course of the pledge of the imperial city of Eger by the Roman-German King Ludwig the Bavarian to the Bohemian King John of Luxembourg in 1322, the fishermen settlement on both sides of the Eger was divided between two kingdoms ; the village of Böhmisch Fischern on the left side of the river and the water mill were part of the Eger Reichspfand, the right-wing village of Bayerisch Fischern remained with Bavaria.

After territorial disputes between Austria and Bavaria in the middle of the 19th century, the border between Bohemian fishermen or Catholic fishermen and Bavarian fishermen or Evangelical fishermen was re-painted.

Due to the corona pandemic, District Administrator Döhler issued a curfew for fishermen on March 19, 2020.

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on August 16, 1962 by decision of the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior.

Blazon: “In silver an overturned blue drawbar cross with corrugated bars; on the right a floating black paw cross, on the left a six-pointed red star. "(Note: In the case of a blazon, the sides are mirrored.)

The drawbar cross symbolizes the confluence of the Röslau and Eger rivers, which form the state border, in Fischern. In the small town and the village of Oschwitz in the Sechsämterland , which was part of the Eger estate and, since the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries, was part of the territory of the burgraves of Nuremberg and later margraves of Brandenburg-Bayreuth , they existed despite the change the sovereignty continued relations with Eger through the manor. Oschwitz belonged almost entirely to the Coming Eger of the Teutonic Order , and since 1692 it belonged to the city of Eger. In addition to the German rulers, the Coming Eger of the Order of the Cross dominated the fishermen as landowners. The memory of these local historical conditions is kept alive by the black cross of the Teutonic Order and the red star as a symbol of the Lords of the Cross in the municipal coat of arms. The colors silver and black in the coat of arms indicate the Margraviate Bayreuth .
