The games of the Floorball World Championship 2014 took place in Gothenburg in the Scandinavium (preliminary and final round) and the Liseberghalle (preliminary round and placement games).
For the first time in the history of the Floorball World Cup , all teams except the host had to take part in a qualifying round. Previously, the top five teams from the previous World Cup were directly qualified for the next edition.
A total of 30 teams took part in the continental qualifying rounds. The qualifying tournaments were held between January 28th and February 2nd, 2014. The 16 places for the final round were awarded as follows:
The 2014 floorball world championship is the first men's world championship to be held according to a new mode, which should guarantee more balanced and exciting games even in the preliminary round.
It is played in four groups of four teams. In groups A and B, the eight best placed participants in the world rankings play, in groups C and D the remaining teams. The teams are drawn into the groups according to the following scheme.

The first two in groups A and B qualify directly for the quarter-finals after the group phase, the third and fourth-placed players play a playoff round against the two first-placed finals in groups C and D. The winners of this playoff round also qualify for the quarter-finals .

The group stage draw for the final round took place on February 25, 2014 at 1.30 p.m. (CET) in Gothenburg. The teams were divided into four pots according to their position in the world rankings.
The teams were drawn out of the pots one after the other, starting with pot 4. The teams from pots 3 and 4 were distributed alternately to groups C and D, the teams from pots 1 and 2 to groups A and B. The draw resulted in the following groups.
