Florian Maurice (born January 20, 1974 in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon ) is a former French football player . Until the end of his career, the striker was under contract with six French and one Spanish clubs.

Career

society

Maurice started his career with the youngsters of the lower class FC Francheville and came from there in 1986 to the youth boarding school of Olympique Lyon . The professional squad of the East French belonged from the 1991/92 season. But he had to wait a year for his first Ligue 1 appearance. In August 1992, the then 18-year-old was allowed to play for the first time in France's top division. His final national breakthrough came with the 1994/95 season when he scored 15 league goals. In the following season he was able to mark 18 hits. In 1996, Maurice's steep ascent was interrupted by a persistent Achilles tendon injury. It took him several months to recover from this injury. In the summer of 1997 he decided to move to league rivals Paris Saint-Germain . After his first year in Paris, he was able to win the Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue with the team . After 29 games and seven goals, he decided to leave the club after just one year and signed a contract with Olympique Marseille . In his first year with Marseille, Maurice found his old strength back and was able to net 14 times for the port city residents. At the end of the season the final of the UEFA Cup was reached, but they had to admit defeat to AC Parma 3-0. In the next two years, minor injuries threw him back again and again, so that it was difficult for him to recommend himself for the starting lineup.

In the summer of 2001 he decided to move abroad and hired at Celta de Vigo in Spain . After a disappointing year, he turned his back on the Spaniards and returned to Ligue 1 to be able to hunt for goals for SC Bastia from then on . After his contract expired in the summer of 2004, he did not receive an extension at Bastia, so a new change was necessary. He found a new employer in FC Istres . There he did not manage to score a goal in 14 games, so that this chapter was ended after half a year. In Ligue 2 at LB Châteauroux , he tried again a fresh start, but decided with the end of the 2004/05 season to end his professional career.

National team

After his good appearances in the league game operation of the 1995/96 season, Maurice was invited for the U-21s of France to take part in the U-21 European Football Championship in 1996 . In the end, 3rd place was taken. In the same year he was appointed to the team for the Summer Olympic Games . He made his debut for the French senior team in August 1996 when he was appointed by then coach Aimé Jacquet . Due to injuries, his career in the national team was short-lived. His last game for Les Bleus was in the 3-0 win against Croatia in November 1999 . He was able to celebrate his first and only goal win.

He was never invited to a major tournament like the European Football Championship or the Football World Cup .
