Florian Schulz (born January 21, 1994 in Greifswald ) is a former German boxer .
Career
Florian Schulz learned boxing at the clubs "FIT UND FUN" Groß Kiesow eV and the Boxing and Leisure Club eV Greifswald. Later he moved to the federal base in Schwerin . With a height of around 1.97 m, he fought in the super heavyweight (+91 kg).
He was German junior champion in 2009 and 2010 and started at the 2010 European Junior Championships in Ukraine , where he finished 7th. In 2011 he became German youth champion and took part in the 2011 European Youth Championships in Ireland , where he finished 5th. He was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Gassan Gimbatow .
In 2012 he repeated winning the German youth championship and also won a bronze medal at the 2012 youth world championships in Armenia . In 2013 and 2014 he was German champion (class: U21), won bronze at the Feliks Stamm Tournament 2013 and silver at the chemistry cup 2014. He also won against the eventual Olympic champion Tony Yoka .
He achieved his greatest success at the 2015 European Championships in Samokov , Bulgaria , when he defeated the Belgian Ruben Nazaryan, the Turkish Ali Demirezen and the Bulgarian Petar Belberow and thus made it to the final, where he was defeated by the Croat Filip Hrgović and vice-European champion has been. With this success he was qualified for the 2015 World Championships in Doha and reached the quarter-finals with a win against the Mexican Edgar Ramírez, where he was eliminated against the Kazak Iwan Dytschko .
In addition, he was captain of the Bundesliga boxing team Hanse Wismar and boxed for the Polish team Rafako Hussars in the World Series of Boxing (WSB).
Schulz was unable to take part in the 2016 Olympic Games because Erik Pfeifer had already qualified in his weight class . Schulz announced the end of his career in 2016.
