Florian T. Furtak

Florian Tobias Furtak (born July 15, 1967 in Heidelberg ) is a German political scientist and professor of European law and political science at the Berlin School of Economics and Law .

Career

After graduating from high school in 1986 in Kirchzarten and doing community service, Furtak began studying political science and English at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . In the years 1989 to 1993 he completed his training for the career of the higher administrative service at the city administration Waldkirch and at the technical college for public administration Kehl with the degree " Diplom-Verwaltungswirt (FH) ". In 1993 he began studying political science (major), law (focus: public law) and modern and modern history (minor subjects) at the Philipps University of Marburg , where he graduated in 1997 with a diploma in political science . In 2001 he was supported by a grant from the Hessian grant for young researchers at the University of Marburg from Wilfried von Bredow with a political science dissertation on the subject of "Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the political system of the European Union. After completing his doctorate, Furtak first went into local politics. From 2001 to 2009 he was managing director of the SPD council group in Karlsruhe. As a part-time he was a consultant for municipalities on the conception and implementation of urban development processes ; participated in (future) workshops in cities and municipalities and was a speaker for the mayor seminars "Development of a city concept" and "Strengths and weaknesses analyzes in the municipality" at the administrative school of the Baden-Württemberg Municipal Council.

In addition, from 2001 to 2016 he was a lecturer for European politics and European law at the universities of public administration in Kehl and Ludwigsburg .

In 2009 Furtak was appointed professor for European law and political science with a focus on European integration at the Berlin School of Economics and Law . Since 2010 he has been the head of the master’s degree in “European Administrative Management”, and since 2016 he has been the Dean of Studies in the General Administration Department.

Since 2004 Furtak has been the editor of the "Political Science" series at Herbert Utz Verlag , Munich.

Furtak has been a member of the SPD since 1997. Since 2012 he has been chairman of the SPD local association Hagsfeld, since 2015 of the local association Hagsfeld-Waldstadt in Karlsruhe.
