Thomas Florschuetz

Thomas Florschuetz (born July 25, 1957 in Zwickau ) is a German photographer and artist .

Life

In 1981 he moved to East Berlin , where he had his first exhibition in 1983 in the youth club Wilhelm-Pieck-Straße. In 1987 he received the 1st prize for young European photographers in Frankfurt am Main and in 1988 moved to West Berlin . In the same year he received a work grant from the Senator for Cultural Affairs. In 1993 he spent a long time in New York , in 1995 in Rio de Janeiro and Salvador and in 2000 he was artist in residence in the Pacific Palisades, California . In 1994 a Dorothea von Stetten Art Prize followed , and in 1997 a sponsorship prize from the Helmut Kraft Foundation, Stuttgart. In 2004 Florschuetz was awarded the German Critics' Prize for Fine Art . He lives in Berlin . In 2007 Florschuetz became a member of the Academy of Arts , Berlin, Fine Arts Section .
