history
In 2011 the construction of the airport started to replace the old airport "Juana Azurduy de Padilla" close to the city, which had become too small due to the increase in air traffic in Bolivia and due to its location in the basin of Sucre only in daylight and good weather could be approached. The airport opened in May 2016, but is to be expanded further by 2020 so that international flights can also be offered. In addition, a freight terminal is to be built in the course of the expansion.
