The airport of Monteagudo is located about 2 km southwest of the city of Monteagudo in a valley of the foothills in southeastern Bolivia at an altitude of 1118 m.
The airport was inaugurated by Evo Morales in March 2016 ; the construction cost 53 million bolivianos. In November 2017, the state airline Boliviana de Aviación started its first flights. Just a year later, the only connection from Monteagudo Airport was closed again.
