The Zamboanga International Airport ( English : Zamboanga Airport ) is the international airport of Zamboanga City in the Philippines .

Location and directions

The airport is about two kilometers northwest of Zamboanga.


The tower (TWR) sends and receives on the frequency 118.1 MHz. The frequency 121.5 MHz is the emergency frequency for the aeronautical service and, if necessary, the frequency 123.1 MHz is the auxiliary frequency, which is constantly monitored. The airport has various navigation aids. The runway 09/27 has an instrument landing system (ILS). The rotating radio beacon (VOR) transmits on frequency : 113.9  MHz with the identifier: ZAM . A distance measuring equipment (DME) is present. The location dismissal is 0 ° (status: 2006).

Incidents

On May 23, 1976, a BAC One-Eleven 527FK was kidnapped by Muslim terrorists en route from Davao to Manila and forced to land in Zamboanga. Ten passengers and three hijackers were killed when the plane was stormed. The aircraft was irreparably damaged. Three other kidnappers were sentenced to death.
