The Puerto Princesa International Airport is the airport of the city of Puerto Princesa on the Philippine island of Palawan . The flight time to the Philippine capital Manila is about an hour. The airport is operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines , which classified it as a Trunkline Airport (major commercial domestic airport) until 2008 . It has been classified as an International Airport since 2009 . The airport is located three kilometers east of downtown Puerto Princesa (Post Office, City Tourist Office) on the east-west axis, Rizal Avenue.
The number of passengers increased from 189,412 in 2001 to 2,146,350 in 2018.
Due to the increasing volume of traffic, a modernization of the airport and the construction of a new terminal were planned in 2012. The new passenger hall went into operation in May 2017 and can handle two million passengers a year.
