The Eider river basin district (FGE Eider) combines the surface water bodies and coastal waters in the western part of Schleswig-Holstein into one river basin district as part of the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive .

Description of the Eider river basin district

The Eider river basin district comprises the western part of Schleswig-Holstein . In addition to the Eider , other rivers are assigned to the river basin district, all of which drain into the North Sea .

In addition, the FGE Eider covers the coastal waters of the North Sea from the border with the coastal waters of the Wiedau (Danish: Vidå) to the coastal waters of the FGE Elbe bordering to the south . On the seaward side, the coastal water extends to one nautical mile seaward of the baseline , i.e. This means that the North Frisian Islands and Halligen also belong to the FGE, and thus the part of the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park that does not belong to the Elbe FGE.

In the north is the cross-border water catchment area of the Wiedau, in the east the river basin district Schlei / Trave and in the south the river basin district Elbe .

The currently responsible authority is the Ministry for Energy Transition, Agriculture, Environment, Nature and Digitization of the State of Schleswig-Holstein .
