Foundation, debut EP, signature with Fearless Records and singer search

Follow My Lead was founded in 2013 in the Irish city ​​of Donegal by singer Ryan Dawson, the two guitarists Niall Friel and Robbie Thorne - who also acts as a background singer - as well as bassist Declan Graham (also background singer) and drummer William Woods. Shortly after the formation, singer Dawson left the band and was replaced by Mattie Foxx. The musicians previously played in various bands.

On August 23, 2013, the group's first EP, Sleepless, was released, which was self-financed and produced. This was only published on a digital level. The music video for the song Crestfallen was officially released on BryanStars . The group announced at the end of 2014 that they had flown to Sweden to record their debut album with Fredrik Nordström at Studio Fredman . Fredman has worked with Bring Me the Horizon , In Flames and Architects among others . On December 11, 2014, the group announced that they had signed a record deal with Fearless Records .

On May 18, 2015, the group announced the exit of their singer Mattie Foxx. Two months later, on July 19, 2015, Danny Bochkow was presented as a new lead singer. Bochkow was previously a guitarist in the Irish metal band Displaced, which he continued as a solo project after it broke up at the beginning of the year.

Signature at InVogue Records and Spit, Kick, Revolt

On April 11, 2016, the group released a music video for the song Jugular . It was also announced that the band had signed a new record deal with the US independent record label inVogue Records and their debut album Spit, Kick, Revolt. would be released on June 17, 2016 on the label. It finally appeared on the scheduled date.

The band toured the UK for the first time in July 2016 .

style

Follow My Lead play a typical variant of the new post-hardcore , which can at times also transition into metalcore . The vocals alternate between screaming and clear vocals . In the stand-alone song XIII , light elements of rap singing can also be heard. The musicians name groups like While She Sleeps , Of Mice & Men and Bring Me the Horizon as their musical influences.

These elements, as present on the stand-alone single XIII , were also used in the debut album Spit, Kick, Revolt. picked up. By using turntable samples and spoken vocals, the music can even be classified as Nu Metal in phases . Some of the pieces were compared with Linkin Park's early work .
