Fontanes is a former French commune in the Lozère department in the Occitanie region .
The municipality was merged with the former municipality of Naussac to form the Commune nouvelle Naussac-Fontanes with effect from January 1, 2016 , and since then has had the status of a commune déléguée with 157 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017).

Fontanes is located on a high plateau in the northern Cevennes on the north bank of Lac de Naussac , a reservoir that is fed by the Allier river .
