The Football Federation American Samoa (FFAS) is the governing body of football in American Samoa . It was founded in 1984 and became a member of FIFA and the Oceania Football Confederation in 1998 . Record defeat

The FFAS suffered the worst defeat in the history of international football when the American-Samoan national team lost during the qualifying round for the 2002 World Cup to the Australian national team on April 11, 2001 with 0:31. In this qualifying round, American Samoa lost all four games (against Fiji 0:13, against Samoa 0: 8, against Australia 0:31 and against Tonga 0-5) and did not score a single goal with 57 goals conceded.

In qualifying for the 2006 World Cup, the national team performed slightly better, as Natia Natia scored the first and so far only official goal for American Samoa in a FIFA World Cup qualification in the 9-1 defeat by Vanuatu . Overall, however, the team lost all four qualifying games again, with a goal difference of 1:34.

In qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa , American Samoa again lost all 4 games. After defeats against the Solomon Islands , Vanuatu , Samoa and Tonga , they were eliminated with a goal difference of 1:38. The only goal that could be cheered was the 1: 5 consolation goal from Ramin Ott in the match against the Solomon Islands (Result: 1:12) .
