Forté is an American power and thrash metal band from Oklahoma City , Oklahoma that was formed in 1987.
history
The band was formed in 1987 by guitarist Jeff Scott, his brother and drummer Greg Scott, bassist Ghames "Rev." Jones and singer James Randel, previously with Oliver Magnum . After the band released their first demo, Dementia by Design , tours with bands like Pantera , Overkill , Savatage , Flotsam and Jetsam , Fates Warning , Exodus , Prong and Trouble followed . In early 1991, Metal Blade Records selected a song by Dementia by Design for the eleventh edition of the Metal Massacre sampler . Towards the end of the year Forté signed a contract with Massacre Records before the band recorded their debut album Stranger Than Fiction in Germany in February 1992 . In 1994 the second album Division followed . The release was followed by tours with Sepultura , Dream Theater , Yngwie Malmsteen, and Testament . In 1996 the band recorded their third album, Destructive , on which David Thompson could be heard as the new singer. This was followed by appearances with Suicidal Tendencies , Testament, Exodus and King Diamond . In 1999 the fourth album Rise Above was released . Appearances with Death , Hammerfall , Testament and Manowar followed . The band split from Massacre Records and continued to perform, playing with groups like Solitude Aeternus , Nile , Morbid Angel , Cellador and Bullet for My Valentine . In 2012 the last album Unholy War was released on Tribunal Records / Divebomb Records .

The band plays technically demanding Thrash Metal, although some songs can also be assigned to Power Metal.
