Fortuna Düsseldorf is a sports club from Düsseldorf . The futsal team has been playing in the first-class Futsal League West since it was promoted in 2016 .
history
The club was founded in 2004 as Futsal Lions Düsseldorf . Both the club name and the club logo were inspired by the Düsseldorf city arms. Since 2008 there has been a solid partnership between the Futsal Lions and the TuRU Düsseldorf association . On July 1, 2017, the futsal team joined the Fortuna Düsseldorf club .
The team qualified in the 2005/06 season for the first-ever WFLV Futsal League . The 2010/11 season was the most successful season in the club's history when the Düsseldorf team topped the table after the preliminary round and finally slipped to third place. The qualification for the DFB Futsal Cup 2011 was missed by two points. A year later, the Löwen won the Futsal Lower Rhine Cup for the first time with a final victory over Futsalicious Essen .
After several years of relegation battle, the Düsseldorf team had to move into the second division in 2015 . In the same year, the team won the WFLV Futsal Cup with a 5-3 final victory over UFC Münster . A year later, the direct rise as Niederrheinmeister succeeded in the now called Futsalliga West division. The Düsseldorfers were able to hold onto this until 2018. In the first season as Fortuna, the team had to relegate athletically. The SC Aachen withdrew its team in the same year and thus gave Fortuna the subsequent league.
In the 2018/2019 season, the Fortunes succeeded with a 4th place in the table, the best place in the top German division so far. In addition, the team won the Futsal Lower Rhine Cup for the first time as Fortuna Düsseldorf.
