The forum oö history ( full title " forum oö history - www.ooegeschichte.at | Virtual Museum Upper Austria ") is an online portal that is maintained by the Association of Upper Austrian Museums based in Leonding in Upper Austria .

The “forum oö history” was initiated by Roman Sandgruber . The portal went online in December 2005 and has been managed by the Association of Upper Austrian Museums on behalf of and with the support of the Province of Upper Austria . The editorial and scientific support of the portal was carried out from 2007 to 2011 by Klaus Landa , later managing director of the Upper Austria Association. Museums.

Roman Sandgruber has been in charge of the overall scientific management since it was founded in 2005. The editorial and scientific support of the portal is carried out by Elisabeth Kreuzwieser.

The forum oö geschichte is particularly aimed at all those interested in regional studies and history, local researchers , but also scientific research and schools. Scientific work in the state's museums is also supported. The content of the research portal is constantly being expanded with the aim of providing a scientifically sound overview of the various aspects of Upper Austrian regional history and of preparing and merging comprehensive information on the regional and cultural history of Upper Austria in one portal.

A central pillar of the project is the cooperation with the Upper Austrian Provincial Museum , the Upper Austrian Provincial Archives and the Archives of the City of Linz as well as numerous other museums, archives and cultural institutions in Upper Austria.

The forum oö geschichte provides downloadable PDF files for the following regional studies periodicals, but these are generally not digitized and therefore cannot be searched without additional text recognition:

  • The regional and local research database in Upper Austria is a directory of all researchers who are active in regional and local research in Upper Austria. This is intended to facilitate mutual networking and the finding of experts on subject-specific topics.
  • In the categorization database , the mobile cultural assets of the Upper Austrian museums are recorded. The overview of the collections of around 100 small and medium-sized museums is available to all participating museums as an aid for object research for planned exhibitions. Access to this database is not possible for third parties.
  • The literature database - historical bibliography is a reference database that can be used to search for regional literature. The works themselves must be found in the relevant libraries.
