Foteini Kolovou

Foteini Ch. Kolovou (also: Fotini , Greek Φωτεινή Χ. Κολοβού , born January 8, 1964 in Karditsa , Greece ) is a Greek Byzantine scholar and professor of Byzantine and Modern Greek Philology at the University of Leipzig .

Life

After studying at the University of Ioannina , where Kolovou also received her doctorate in 1993, she was a research assistant at the Byzantine-Modern Greek Seminar at the Free University of Berlin from 1997 to 2003 . In the academic year 2003/2004 she represented the C3 professorship for Byzantine and Modern Greek Philology at the University of Leipzig. The habilitation for the subject Byzantine Studies took place in 2005 at the Free University of Berlin. In the academic years 2005 to 2007 she represented the W2 endowed professorship for Byzantine and Modern Greek Philology at the University of Leipzig. She was appointed Professor of Byzantine and Modern Greek Philology there in 2007. In 2014 she was elected to the Saxon Academy of Sciences .

Kolovou operate in particular in the field of Byzantine Philology edition philologisch for Byzantine history ( Michael Choniates , Kritobulos of Imbros ) and epistolography ( Eustathios of Thessaloniki ).
