The village, 10 km north of Fairbanks on Goldstream Creek , was founded in 1905 as a housing estate for miners. In 1908 the place received a post office. In Fox, the Fox Creek coming from the north joins the Goldstream Creek. Today, however, most of the residents work in nearby Fairbanks. Fox is the destination of many day vacationers, especially the local restaurants and the second largest brewery in Alaska are popular.
