Foxes (born April 29, 1989 in Southampton ; actually Louisa Rose Allen ) is a British pop musician .

biography

Louisa Rose Allen, who came from the south coast of England, went to London at the age of 18 to study music. The course was unsuccessful, but she managed to find a label with her own songs . Her song Youth was discovered on YouTube and used in the US series Gossip Girl , which earned her first attention and earned her a record deal with the New York label Neon Gold . In October 2012 she toured England supporting Marina and the Diamonds .

While she was not very successful with her own songs at first, working as a singer on the song Clarity by German-Russian DJ Zedd helped her breakthrough in early 2013. The song became a top ten hit in the US and later won a Grammy for best dance recording of the year. It also hit the charts in Germany and England. In her home country she also had a second chart hit with the electronic band Rudimental .

At the end of 2013 she had her first own hit parade with the song Youth, supported by her work in advertising for a department store chain. A little later, the first top ten hit in England followed with Let Go for Tonight . The song was an anticipation of the debut album Glorious , which was released in May 2014.

In 2014 she had a cameo on the episode Mummy on the Orient Express of the British science fiction television series Doctor Who , where she sang a jazz version of the Queen classic Don't Stop Me Now .
