Foy Vance

Foy Vance (* 1974 in Bangor , Northern Ireland ) is a Northern Irish musician and singer-songwriter. Vance became known to a larger audience through his appearances in the opening act of Ed Sheeran and Elton John . He has now produced three albums.

Career

Vance's first single, Gabriel and the Vagabond, was released on December 18, 2006 on Wurdamouth Records. The song was used as the soundtrack in Grey's Anatomy season two . This was followed by the EPs Live Sessions and the Birth of the Toilet Tour and Watermelon Oranges .

In July 2007, Vance's debut album Hope was released . From 2007 Vance appeared several times with his current songs at Ireland's largest Christian youth festival Summer Madness in King's Hall, Belfast . In 2008, Vance was invited to perform in several prisons in England, including New Hall Women's Prison and Maximum Security Full Sutton Prison .

In 2010 Vance composed the music for a short film by director Terry George together with David Holmes and was allowed to take on the role of a street musician in his next film Whole Lotta Sole . The short film The Shore won an Oscar for best short film in 2012. On August 27, 2012, Vance released his The Melrose EP on the Communion Music label . The EP includes four new songs that Holmes had produced. The song "Be The Song" was the soundtrack of individual episodes of Private Practice , Dr. House , Vampire Diaries , Arrow , Haven and Constantine and the film Warm Bodies .

Vance performed at the BBC's Proms in the Park in Belfast on September 8, 2012. In the fall of 2012, Vance appeared in support of Ed Sheeran's tour and came on stage with Sheeran for the song "Kiss Me". Sheeran also covered Vance's song "Guiding Light".

In 2013, Vance signed with Glassnote Records and completed his new album Joy of Nothing , which was released in August. In November 2013 the album won the Northern Ireland Music Prize for best album.

In November 2015, Vance signed with Sheeran's Gingerbread Man Records label and released his studio album The Wild Swan on May 13, 2016 . Vance then appeared in the summer of 2016 as Elton John's supporting act on his Wonderful Crazy Tour through Europe and then went on a world tour through North America, Australia and Europe with his album. In December 2016, Vance released the single Moonshine , which was used in the soundtrack to Ben Affleck's film Live by Night .
