François-Louis Tremblay

François-Louis Tremblay (born November 13, 1980 in Alma , Québec ) is a Canadian short tracker and Olympic champion .

Life

François-Louis Tremblay started skating at the age of four. He lives and trains in Montreal and runs for Club Montréal - International . In Canada's national short track team he is trained by Olympic champion Derrick Campbell . Before Tremblay achieved success in the national team, he was successful in the Junior World Championships and in the Junior World Cup. In 1998 and 1999 he took first place in the 500-meter Junior World Cup. In 1997 he won the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in the 500-meter distance. He made his debut in the World Cup in 2000. In that year he was also Canadian champion. At world championships he was able to win the world championship title twice with the relay in 2005 or 2006, as well as over 500 meters in 2006. He won a silver medal at world championships in 2006 over 3000 meters.

Over the 1000-meter distance, Tremblay holds the Canadian record and together with his colleagues ( Turcotte , Hamelin , Robillard ) he holds the relay world record. In 2006 he was the Canadian short tracker of the year.

For the first time in competitions at the Olympics, he took part in the 2002 Games in Salt Lake City . Here he won the gold medal in the relay competition with the Canadian relay. At the 2006 Games in Turin , second place in the relay was another Olympic medal. Francois-Louis won the third Olympic precious metal with the silver medal over the 500 meter distance.
