Guillaume Bastille (born July 21, 1985 in Rivière-du-Loup ) is a Canadian short tracker and Olympic champion .

Career

Bastille made his debut in the 2007/08 season in the Short Track World Cup . In February 2008 he came on the podium for the first time in Québec with two third places over 1000 m. In the 2009/10 season he won his first World Cup victory in Marquette with the relay. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , he won the gold medal with the relay. In March 2010 he won the silver medal at the Short Track Team World Championships 2010 in Bormio . At the beginning of the 2010/11 season he finished third and first over 1500 m in Montreal . In the further course of the season he came third in Québec and second in Dresden over 1000 m and thus reached fourth place in the overall World Cup over 1500 m. In the 2011/12 season he won in Salt Lake City and Moscow with the relay. He also took second place over 500 m in Saguenay and first place in Dordrecht over 1000 m and thus achieved eighth place in the overall World Cup over 1000 m. At the season highlight, the 2012 World Championships in Shanghai , he won the gold medal with the relay. At the beginning of the 2012/13 season he won his sixth World Cup victory in Montreal over 500 m. This was followed by third places in Shanghai each over 1500 m and with the relay and in Dresden over 1500 m. At the end of the season he achieved sixth place in the overall world cup over 500 m and fifth place in the overall world cup over 1500 m. At the World Championships in 2015 in Moscow, he was seventh and in the World Championships 2017 in Rotterdam fifth respectively in the relay.
