François Valentiny
François Jean Victor Valentiny (* 1953 in Remerschen / Schengen , Luxembourg ) is an architect. Following the family tradition, he first became a carpenter and later began studying architecture at the Ecole d'Architecture de Nancy and the University of Applied Arts in Vienna . In 1980 the partnership with Hubert Hermann was established and the architecture office Hermann & Valentiny was founded, based in Luxembourg and Vienna.
Life
François Valentiny was born in 1953 in Remerschen (Schengen) in Luxembourg as one of two sons of a carpenter. At the age of twelve he was sent to a boarding school in Belgium by his parents .
education and profession
After returning from a Belgian boarding school in 1970, he became a carpenter by profession. Later he began to study architecture at the Ecole d'Architecture de Nancy and the University of Applied Arts in Vienna (1975/1980).
In 1980 he completed his studies with the title “Magister architecturae” in the master class of Wilhelm Holzbauer at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and received a scholarship from the Austrian Federal Ministry for Science and Research. He became an assistant at the International Summer Academy in Salzburg . In 1980 he entered into a partnership with Hubert Hermann and the architecture firm Hermann & Valentiny was founded in Luxembourg and Vienna. From 1987 to 1992 he was a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Applied Sciences Trier and 1991 first representative of Luxembourg to the Architecture Biennale in Venice . From 1991 to 1994 he was a member of the design advisory board of the city of Salzburg and from 1997 to 2006 a member of the architecture and city council of the city of Trier and from 2000 to 2005 a member of the advisory board of the German Architecture Museum in Frankfurt am Main . In 1997 Hermann & Valentiny et Associés SARL was founded. From 2000 to 2003 he was also a substitute professor at the University of Technology, Economics and Culture in Leipzig , and in 2002 he founded and published the first Luxembourg architecture magazine Adato . From 2003 to 2007 he was a member of the administrative committee of the Fondation de l'Architecture et de l'Ingénierie in Luxembourg, of which he was president in 2006/2007. In 2004 and 2006 he was Luxembourg's commissioner for the Venice Architecture Biennale.
Since 2011 he has been Master of Community Planning and Green Architectural Design at the Beijing DeTao Masters Academy (DTMA) in Shanghai ( China ). In the same year he co-founded the festival Musica em in Trancoso - MeT and architect of the amphitheater in the canyon of Trancoso, Bahia ( Brazil ). In 2012 he became a member of the jury for the Belgian steel design award Concours Construction Acier 2012 - Belgium .
The Hermann & Valentiny et Associés SARL was in 2012 Valentiny hvp architects Sarl renamed. 2014 followed by the opening of DeTao Master Francois Valentiny studios in Shanghai and became the VALENTINY Foundation established that the buildings in Remerschen 2016: VALENTINY Foundation opened.

- In 2006 Valentiny was awarded the Golden Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria .

- In 2009 he became a member of the "Academia Scientiarum et Artium Europaea" in Salzburg, Austria.
- 2016 Awarded the Cruz Europea de Oro of the Fundacion Europeo Barcelona.
- 2016 Award from the Korean Institute of Architects & UIA.
- 2016 Award "Holzbaupreis Eifel" in Germany for the Biodiversum in Remerschen in Luxembourg.
- 2018 Awarded the Great Order of Merit of the State of Salzburg .
