Vyachorka 2010

Franzischak Waljanzinawitsch Vjatschorka ( Belarusian Франці́шак Валянці́навіч Вячо́рка , Russian Франтишек Валентинович Вечёрко born March 26, 1988 in Minsk ) is a white-Russian journalist . He advises the United States Agency for Global Media .

He is the son of the opposition politician Winzuk Vyachorka .

Education and work experience

Franzischak Viacorka studied at the Belarusian Lyceum of Humanities (since 2003 in the underground), at the Journalism Institute of Belarusian State University, from which he was expelled for political activities, at the European Humanities University in Vilnius and from 2010 to 2012 at the University of Warsaw , the Public relations and media marketing courses . In 2016 Franzischak Wjatschorka received the Civil Society Leadership Award from the Open Society Foundations for his master’s degree at American University , where he completed a master’s degree in international communication until 2018 .

Franzischak Wjatschorka has been working as PR manager with an independent satellite television company for Belarus, Belsat TV , since 2008 and is now presenting the Belarus service from RFE / RL in its popular news and analysis program on the channel. He has worked as a journalist and editor for several independent publications in Belarus: Belarusian information agency BelaPAN , monthly political newspaper “Naviny BNF” (“BPF News”), Belarusian service of RFE / RL, youth information web portal Uff-by.org. Franzischak Wjatschorka has a video blog on a Polish radio web portal.

Franzischak Vyachorka is the Creative Director at the Belarusian service of RFE / RL . He is Vice President of the Digital Communication Network and also works as a consultant for the United States Agency for Global Media .

He recently examined Kremlin- supported media, think tanks , NGOs abroad and the role of the Russian Orthodox Church . He was an advisor to the US Department of Defense, the Freedom House, and the Broadcasting Board of Governors . He also coordinated the digital influencer mapping project carried out by the Digital Communication Network. He is a frequent speaker and advocate for democracy and personal freedom.

Political activities

Since his youth, Vyachorka has been involved in the opposition movement against the current Belarusian president, Aljaksandr Lukashenka . Vyachorka was a member of the Young Front, a founder and former chairman of the BPF Youth (2008-2009), the youth wing of the Belarusian Popular Front, which was succeeded by Andrej Krečka on October 10, 2009. Vyachorka has organized many demonstrations, political campaigns and flash mobs .

He was a member of the administrative board (2007-2009), national council (2007-2009) of the BPF party and chairman of a culture commission (2007-2009). He is also a member of the Belarusian Language Society.

Vyachorka took part in election campaigns at headquarters in 2000, 2001, 2004 and 2008. In 2010, he ran in the local elections for Mazyr City Council, but the elections were rigged. From 2005 to 2006 he was the administrator of a website of the unified opposition candidate Alyaksandr Milinkevich and from 2007 to 2009 he was the administrator of the United Democratic Forces of Belarus.

As of January 2011, he was elected international secretary for a popular democratic party Belarusian Movement .

Journalistic activity

Franzischak Wjatschorka is editor-in-chief of the European travel book Wanderer's Guide for Belarusians .

He is co-coordinator of the civil journalism project Narodny Żurnalist .

He is one of the founders and managers of a public open space for independent events in Minsk Art-Siadziba.

He was director and producer of the music project Partyzanaskaja Skola (partisans school), music CDs Yes lublu Licej (I love Lyceum), Vieru u Ciabie (Trust yourself) Partyzanaskaja Skola (partisans school), Pieśni Lisoŭčykaŭ (Songs of Lisouchyks), Janka Kupala - 125 , in Belarusian Незалежныя, as well as producer of the audio books project in Belarus .

He was the producer and manager of the Cinema Dubbing into Belarusian project , for example for Pulp Fiction, Shrek 2, En Liten Julsaga, Love Actually, V for Vendetta.

Since August 15, 2020 he has been a non-resident fellow of the Atlantic Council .

Vyachorka speaks English, French, Polish, Russian and Belarusian.

Repression

On February 18, 2008, Vyachorka was expelled from the Belarusian State University as a journalist for missing two exams. His police arrest was not accepted as a legitimate excuse by university authorities. A later attempt to enroll at the private Belarusian university in exile, European Humanities University, which operates in neighboring Lithuania due to Lukashenko's restrictions, failed because Vyachorka is banned from traveling abroad.

Franzischak Vyachorka was drafted into the army despite his health. It was reported that Vyachorka was forcibly conscripted into the armed forces of Belarus by the authorities on January 16, 2009, despite the fact that he was found medically unfit. Several other youth activists such as Ivan Šyła were also drafted. From February 2009 he was stationed in Air Defense Unit 48694 in Mozyr, Homiel Voblast. During his training, senior military officials reportedly put pressure on him to speak Russian rather than Belarusian, even though both are legal for military service. As a soldier, Franak fought for the rights of soldiers and the rights of local residents. On April 14, 2010, Vyachorka was released from the army for health reasons. During his military service, Franak took part as a candidate in local elections to the Mazyr City Council.

During his military service, Franzischak Vyachorka published the Belarusian soldier's blog on the Internet.

Franzischak Vyachorka has been arrested several times and imprisoned for his activities, most recently in January 2011.

After his discharge from the military, Vyachorka was denied admission to the Belarusian State University, to which he applied eight times, as well as admission to all other public universities in Belarus, in violation of the law that granted released soldiers guaranteed admission.

Franzischak Vyachorka also played in the Tuteyszyja film. This film was banned in Belarus.
