Francesco Maria Taliani de Marchio (born October 22, 1887 in Ascoli Piceno , † March 16, 1968 in Rome ) was an Italian diplomat .

Life

Francesco Maria Taliani de Marchio was the son of Gertrude Silj and Domenico Taliani. He graduated in 1910 studying law at the University of Rome from. In 1911 he joined the Foreign Service, was in Berlin from 1912 and was seconded to the embassy at the Sublime Porte in Constantinople in 1913 . There he negotiated a consular agreement that put Italians born before November 5, 1911 in Tripolitania and Cyrenaica on an equal footing with citizens of the Ottoman Empire . The treaty was ratified in the Kingdom of Italy by Regio Decreto n.315 of April 6, 1913.

In 1937 he married Margaretha (Margarita Raineria Maria Antonia Blanka Leopoldine Beatrix Anna Josephina Raphaele Michaele Stanislawa Ignatia Alice Cäcilie) (born May 8, 1894 in Lemberg ; † June 21, 1986 in Rome ), Archduchess without Tuscany , a daughter of Blanca de Borbón and Leopold Salvator of Austria-Tuscany at Sonnberg Castle (Hollabrunn municipality) .

From 1938 to 1943 he was envoy to Nanjing , then he and his wife Margaretha were interned in a Japanese camp until the summer of 1945.

He returned to Italy in early 1946 and was ambassador to Francisco Franco from February 1, 1951 to 1952 .
