Francis Walmsley

Francis Joseph Walmsley (born November 9, 1926 in Woolwich - † December 26, 2017 in Reading ) was a British clergyman and bishop of the Roman Catholic military ordinariate of Great Britain .

Life

Francis Joseph Walmsley was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Southwark on May 30, 1953 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of the Military Ordinary of Great Britain and Titular Bishop of Tamalluma on January 8, 1979 . The Bishop Emeritus of the Military Ordinary of Great Britain, Gerard William Tickle , donated him episcopal ordination on February 22 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Mario Joseph Conti , Bishop of Aberdeen , and Michael George Bowen , Archbishop of Southwark.

On March 7, 1998, he renounced his titular seat. On May 24, 2002, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
