The Military Ordinariate of Great Britain ( . English : Military Ordinariate of Great Britain ) is a Military Ordinariate of the Roman Catholic Church in the United Kingdom , based in Aldershot ; it is responsible for the armed forces of the United Kingdom .
history
The military ordinariate in Great Britain provides pastoral care to members of Catholic denominations in the country's armed forces. It was made by Pope Pius XII. Erected on November 21, 1953. After mutual decision between the Holy See and the United Kingdom, the seat of the Military Ordinariate in is Farnborough in the county of Hampshire ( southern England ). A Vicariate Apostolic (Military Vicariate ) had existed since 1917, the first Vicar Apostolic of which was William Keatinge , titular bishop of Metellopolis .
